Phyno is the stage name of Azubuike Chibuzor Nelson, a well-known Nigerian hip-hop rapper, record producer, songwriter, vocalist, stage performer, model, and television personality.

On October 9, 1986, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, known as Phyno, was born. Despite being from Anambra State, he was born and raised in Enugu State. His high school classmate Emeka gave him the nickname “Phyno,” a play on the word “phenomenal”, which served as his stage name.
Phyno became interested in music production while he was in secondary school. When asked if he wanted to be a doctor, he said he initially wanted to be a pilot but ended up studying public Management.
He attended the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu after finishing primary and secondary school, where he earned an OND in public administration. He learnt how to play the piano and drums during high school. He also learned how to create his rendition of every recording he had.
Phyno started making money from music during his second year at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu.
Phyno became interested in music production while he was in secondary school. Although he was first informed he could become a doctor instead of a pilot, he decided to pursue a career in music. Phyno concentrated all of his attention on music throughout high school, picking up the drums and the piano. He also developed the ability to remix every song he heard.
Starting in 2003, Phyno worked as a record producer for prominent Nigerian musicians, including Illbliss, P-Square, Flavour, Mr Raw, Bracket, J Martins, Timaya, Ruggedman, and others. He moved to Lagos in 2007 to further his professional career in the entertainment sector. Mr Raw is among the few people Phyno told Ifeoma Onoye he looked up to. In response to his best friend Illbliss’ advice, Phyno began rapping professionally and was subsequently signed to the Sputnet Records Label.
Phyno founded his record company, Penthauz Entertainment, in 2010 and released his debut studio album, “No Guts No Glory.” Phyno has received numerous honours and accolades from both Nigeria and Nigeria.
He and Olamide shared the 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Award for Best Collabo of the Year and the Headies Award for Best Rap Single.
The Penthauze Group Phyno is the founder and CEO of the Nigerian record company Penthauze Music. He first began his career with Sputnet Records and then started Penthauze. The label started operating in 2008 and has already signed several musicians.
Phyno started work on his first studio album, No Guts No Glory. Stormrex, Efa, P-Square,Omawumi, Olamide, Timaya, Flavour N’abania, Mr Raw, MI, Ice Prince, and Runtown all made guest appearances on the album in 2012 and it was a a hit. Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin were primarily used for recording. He put out “Ghost Mode,” featuring Olamide, as the album’s lead single on September 25, 2012.
It was named Best Collabo in both the 2012 The Headies Awards and the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. The music video for “Ghost Mode” was released on December 7, 2012. Clarence Peters directed and shot the video in Lagos. For his smash single “Ghost Mode,” which featured Olamide, he earned the Best Collabo award at the Headies Awards and Best Rap Artiste of the Year at the City People Entertainment Awards in 2013.
The third song from the album, “Parcel,” was made available on October 11, 2013. The original title of the piece was “Parcel (a BIG Nwa)”. Clarence Peters directed the “Parcel” music video, which debuted on February 19, 2014. On March 4, 2014, “O Set,” the fourth single from the album, was made available. WizzyPro produced the song, which has P-Square on vocals.
A 25-minute performance by Phyno at the Star Music Trek tour in Owerri took place in June 2013, and he was a support act on the 2013 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour alongside D’banj and place in June 2013, and D’banj and Burna Boy Boy, Chidinma, Vector, Pucado, Show Dem Camp, Seyi Shay, Kay Switch, and Sean Tizzle. He gave a performance during the Star Music Trek tour stop in Nsukka, Enugu State, in 2014.
Jude Engees Okoye was the director of the song’s music video. The Clarence Peters-directed music video for “Alobam” by Phyno was made available on May 22, 2014. The song, which was created by Major Bangz, is called “My Guy” in Igbo. The music video for Phyno and Flavour’s single “Authe (Authentic)” was made available on September 2, 2014.
The second single from the album, “Man of the Year (Obago),” was made available via Sputnet Records on March 23.
On March 20, 2014, Phyno released his first studio album via Sputnet Records and Penthauze Music. The album, which was recorded in Igbo and Nigerian pidgin, combines afrobeat, rap, and highlife. P-Square, Olamide, Ice Prince, Omawunmi, Timaya, and other artists are among the guest performers on the album.
On April 1, 2015, Phyno and Olamide’s studio album, 2Kings, was released. It was made available on iTunes and Cloud 9 by Penthauze Music and YBNL Nation. In November 2015, Phyno launched a festival called Phynofest at the 12,000-seat Chuba Ikpeazu stadium in Onitsha, Anambra State.\
The following year, with over 30,000 attendees and a star-studded lineup that included P-Square, Burnaboy, Lil-kesh, Onyeka Owenu, Olamide, Mr Eazi, M.I, Kcee, Zoro, Patoranking, Phyno shifted the location of Phynofest back to the city where he began his music career.
In 2016, Phyno released The Playmaker, his sophomore album, via Penthauze Records. P-Square, MI Abaga, Burna Boy, 2Baba, Flavour, Decarlo, Mr Eazi, Onyeka Onwenu, Olamide, Zoro, and Tidinz made guest appearances. Major Bangz, Tunex, Christ String, Kezyklef, Benjamz, MasterKraft, Del’B, and T-Spize were the album’s producers.
A music site called Tooxclusive referred to The Play Maker as the best thing produced in the music industry that year. Pino Pino (2016), Fada fada ft. Olamide (2016) and E sure for me are some of the album singles (2016).

No Guts No Glory, also known as NGNG, is Nigerian rapper Phyno’s first studio album. On March 20, 2014, Sputnet Records and Penthauze Music made it available.
Major Bangz, WizzyPro, Chopstix, and JStunt were enlisted by Phyno to help with production. He has since put out numerous albums and singles.

Phyno currently serves as a brand ambassador for “Airtel Nigeria,” one of Nigeria’s fasted developing telecommunications companies. Recently, Phyno and his colleagues Flavour and Illblis earned endorsement deals with Life lager beer and Hero. One of the top performing artists in Nigeria has been hailed as Phyno.
As a successful rapper, Phyno accepted sponsorship deals and started serving as a brand ambassador for organizations like Globacom. Along with Olamide and Eva Alordiah, he was appointed an ambassador for the Guinness Nigeria Made of Black campaign in August 2014. The following year, the agreement was extended.
He also agreed to support Nairabet in 2015, and later that year, he agreed to a 50 million Naira contract with Airtel Communications.
Additionally, Nigerian Breweries revealed Phyno as an ambassador for Life Continental Lager Beer, the top premium beer brand in the southeast, in June 2018. In the same month, he revealed his endorsement agreement with Monster Energy, a well-known energy drink company. Phyno and Teniola struck an endorsement agreement with Cadbury Nigeria Plc, the maker of the candy brand Tom Tom, in March 2019.
Later in June 2019, He and Timaya received endorsements to serve as End Polio Celebrity Ambassadors. The Office of the Rotary International Polio Ambassador in Nigeria and Nigerian polio Plus Committee were responsible for doing this.
