Bukola Elemide, professionally known as Asa, is one of Nigeria’s top Forbes richest musicians. Elemide is a Nigeria talented music star who is born into a family of four (3 boys and one girl). She is the only girl in the family.
She was born in Sign Virgo, Paris, on the 17th of September, 1982. Asa is a Nigerian/French songwriter, stage performer, singer and recording artist who is talented in singing emotional songs.
After two years of her birth in Paris, her parents relocated to Nigeria with her and her siblings. Therefore, she grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. When she was 20 years, the young artist relocated back to France( Paris). On getting to Paris, she attended the IMFP school of Jazz Music there. While she was studying there, her teacher advised her to go into music and become a recording artist instead of furthering her education.
In 2004 Asa met her friend Janet Nwosu. Janet Nwosu introduced her to Cobhams Asuquo, which began her music career journey.
Janet Nwosu became Asa’s music partner and producer. After some years, Asa made Janet Nwosu her manager.
Soon, Asa released her first debut single titled “Eyé Adaba”, and this brought her to the limelight. She got so many awards and recognition for this album. Not long after, she signed a contract with Naïve Records, partnered with Cobhams records and then produced her first album titled “Aṣa” with the involvement of Christophe Dupouy.
She released her second album Album in 2010 on October 25. She titled it ” Beautiful imperfection” in joint work with French composer Nicolas Mollard. The lead single from Beautiful Imperfection, titled “Be My Man”, was released in late September 2010, and she made great sales from this. In 2011, Asa was also accepted to perform with Féfé at the Sydney Festival 2011.
Asa also went ahead to release a third album in August 2014 titled “Bed Of Stone”. The singles are “Dead Again”, “Eyo”, “Satan Be Gone”, “The One That Never Comes”, and “Moving On.”
On 14th May 2019, she released a new single titled “The Beginning”, and on 25th June 2019, she released the single “Good Thing”.
She released another album on the 25th of February 2022, titled “V”, featuring the likes of Wizkid, Nigerian highlife duo The Cavemen and Ghanaian artist Amaarae.
